The Secretary of Equality of the PSOE, Pilar Bernabé, has firmly requested the leader of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to proceed with the "immediate dismissal" of Vicent Mompó, president of the Diputació de València and maximum representative of the PP in said province, due to his repeated insults towards the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities and general secretary of the PSPV, Diana Morant.

Mompó's message on X against Diana Morant

The conflict erupted after a message published last Friday on the social network 'X' by Mompó, in response to a tweet issued on Thursday by Diana Morant. In the latter, Morant reacted to a journalistic report about a report prepared by the Head of Human Resources of the Diputació, sent to court number 1 of Catarroja, in charge of investigating the management during the episode known as dana.

Said court requested clarifications about the list used to send an email communicating the temporary suspension –from 2:00 p.m.– of both normal operation and total closure in the centers dependent on the provincial corporation. In addition, it requested information on whether that list included all provincial deputies and their advisors, as well as details on the suspension of training courses. Human Resources confirmed that said list included male and female deputies, advisors, as well as the president and vice-president.

Controversial clash between Diana Morant and Vicent Mompó on X

Diana Morant stated in her publication: "It's that clear: the Diputació de València warned its workers and suspended activities due to the dana. Its president, who was at the Cecopi, knew about it. Mompó knew the preventive measures but decided to only warn his inner circle. Not the rest of Valencians."

Mompó immediately responded to this comment: "Sensible Valencians were trying to help. However, you appeared two days later next to the helicopter with Pedro Sánchez, who said 'If they want more resources, let them ask for them.' Everyone knows that in the tragedies suffered, you have been much more concerned about where the cameras are than about the affected people."

He then launched a series of direct insults at Morant: "Diana, you will always be Zapatero's daughter and Sánchez's ass-kisser. You are useless; I'm telling you clearly."

Diana Morant denounces sexism and lack of political arguments

In statements offered to TVE collected by Europa Press, Diana Morant described these verbal aggressions as clear manifestations "of sexism" and indicated that this situation is neither isolated nor new: "They have been treating me like this for a long time."

"The response to political criticism has been to resort to sexism and insult," said Morant; she also accused Vicent Mompó —considered a political protégé of former regional president Carlos Mazón—of completely lacking "arguments" for political debate and insisted that his intention is to become a political successor to run as an official candidate.
