The Podemos candidate for the general elections on 29N, Irene Montero, has expressed her "deep concern" over the serious train accident that occurred in Toledo and has stressed that, at this moment, the "highest priority" are the affected people and their families.

In a message disseminated on social media after the incident became known, Montero also asked for the work of emergency services to be facilitated and for people to remain attentive to official information. "Let's facilitate the work of emergency services and stay attentive to official information," she wrote.

The Government and Frente Amplio suspend events after the incident

The Government has begun to cancel its agenda planned for this Wednesday, October 28, after the railway accident registered between two high-speed trains at Urda station. In parallel, Frente Amplio has also suspended its pre-campaign events.

The decision comes after the collision between two high-speed trains in the province of Toledo, an incident that has generated immediate reactions in the political sphere and has completely altered the schedule planned for the day.

Feijóo and the PP cancel the entire campaign agenda

The leader of the Popular Party and candidate for Prime Minister, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has stated that he is "very concerned" about the train accident that occurred in Urda (Toledo), where two carriages of an Iryo train derailed after being hit by an AVE.

"Very concerned about the information we are receiving about a new railway accident," Feijóo said in a message published on his official X account, which was picked up by Europa Press. The president of the PP stressed that "the priority now is to attend to the victims and accompany their families" and conveyed his support to the emergency teams working on the ground.

The Popular Party will not have events this Thursday after this accident, and has also announced the total suspension of its campaign activity. "The party's entire campaign agenda across the country is canceled as a consequence of the dramatic railway accident in Toledo, pending further information," the party communicated.

First indications of the accident between Mora and Urda

The first indications of the railway accident that occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. this Wednesday, between Mora and Urda (Toledo), suggest that a Renfe AVE could have hit an Iryo train from behind, which would have caused the derailment of two carriages of the affected convoy, according to sources from the Ministry of Transport told Europa Press.

As investigations progress and information on the extent of the incident expands, the different political parties have chosen to halt their public activity and convey their support to the victims and the emergency services deployed in the area.
