An audio recording between the former Minister of Defense María Dolores de Cospedal and the former commissioner José Manuel Villarejo contains a direct conversation about a “little notebook” whose content is not detailed, but about which the former general secretary of the PP raises a possible intervention.

“Listen, and the famous little notebook, do you think? Would it be better to be able to stop the little notebook?”, says Cospedal in the recording. Villarejo's response is immediate: “No, no, no. Don't worry, I'm going to be on the lookout for this.”

The conversation is framed within the investigation of the so-called Operation Kitchen, the judicial piece that investigates the alleged use of resources from the Ministry of Interior during the Government of Mariano Rajoy to spy on the former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas and steal sensitive documentation for the party.

Different audios of Villarejo have been revealing conversations with political officials about actions related to that operation. The commissioner even boasted in other recordings of his ability to influence the Prosecutor's Office or judicial instances, in a network that has been pointed out as an example of the so-called 'police sewers'.

Despite the existence of these audios, Cospedal does not appear among the accused in the trial of the Kitchen case, which began last Monday at the National Court. During the investigation, she was charged, but finally she was left out of the procedure. However, she will appear as a witness next April 23.
