Vox has filed a complaint against the former Attorney General of the State, Álvaro García Ortiz, for his alleged involvement in actions related to the so-called Leire Díez case. The party believes that crimes of omission of the duty to prosecute crimes, prevarication, and influence peddling may have been committed.
The judicial initiative comes after the Attorney General's Office informed the Audiencia Nacional that Leire Díez held two meetings with Diego Villafañe, then lieutenant prosecutor of the Technical Secretariat and close collaborator of García Ortiz.
In the document submitted to the courts, Vox requests the declaration of the former attorney general and demands the incorporation of various documents related to complaints, meetings, and communications that may contribute to clarifying the investigated facts.
The complaint also requests the opening of proceedings to determine whether there were irregular actions by officials of the Prosecutor's Office in relation to alleged maneuvers aimed at obstructing investigations affecting the PSOE or the Government.
According to the text registered by Vox, reports from the Central Operative Unit (UCO) and messages intercepted from Leire Díez would indicate that the former socialist militant claimed to have direct access to the then Attorney General of the State to address certain issues.
Likewise, the party highlights that on April 3 and 10, 2025, meetings were held at the headquarters of the Attorney General's Office in which Diego Villafañe, lawyer Jacobo Teijelo —defender of Santos Cerdán— and Leire Díez herself participated, meetings that, in Vox's opinion, should be investigated in court.
