The Popular Party (PP) and Navarrese People's Union (UPN) have reached a preliminary agreement to run together in Navarra in the general elections on November 29. The alliance is pending ratification by UPN's Political Council, which meets this Tuesday at 8:00 PM in Pamplona.
The coalition would be called "Navarrese People's Union in coalition with the Popular Party" and would endorse Alberto Núñez Feijóo as a candidate for the Presidency of the Government. Ballots would include the logos of both formations and identify which party each candidate belongs to.
A coalition to gather the votes that competed in 2023
In the 2023 elections, the two parties ran separately in Navarra, where they contested five seats in Congress, and obtained one deputy each. The president of the PP of Navarra's interim management committee, Sergio Sayas, already announced on Monday that both formations were holding negotiations to run together in the general elections, as has happened in most elections.
The pre-agreement contemplates a campaign committee with two representatives from each party and the joint elaboration of the electoral program. Both formations maintain their identity within the alliance, although it has not yet been announced how the positions on the candidacies will be distributed.
“The PP is doing everything possible for that agreement to happen,” said the popular deputy, who insisted that Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party has “total willingness” for an agreement to be reached.
