Gabriel Rufián, spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana, once again places himself at the center of the debate on the Spanish left. His recent statements, in which he emphasizes the need to mobilize to "stop fascism" and confirmations to several media outlets about the formation of a new party, have revived speculation about its creation

Sources close to Rufián acknowledge that a project is in preparation, although details about structure, allies, or leadership remain confidential. The conversation in media and networks has generated curiosity: the expectation of a new political actor always attracts attention, but until official announcements are made, these are hypotheses based on gestures and cautious comments.

Gabriel Rufián connected live with Mañaneros 360, reflecting on this possibility of a left-wing alternative in Spain during his speech, highlighting the connection between workers from different regions. “I am Catalan and an independentist, but for whatever reason, because my body asks me to, it seems to me that the working class is the same in Cornellà as in Vallecas”, he stated.

In the recent connection with Mañaneros 360Gabriel Rufián delved into the need to articulate a progressive alternative for those citizens who do not feel represented by the PSOE, but do feel represented by figures such as Óscar Matute, Mónica Oltra, Ana Pontón or Oriol Junqueras. As he explained, many of these voters opt for abstention because "the sum does not add up," pointing to the lack of unity as one of the main obstacles to effective political action. Rufián stressed that it is not acceptable to him that Vox manages to gain support to reach positions of power, such as "Minister of the Interior," while citizens suffer the consequences of its policies. For him, not trying to stop the far-right would be a negligence in the face of the challenges posed by the current political context

With these statements, Rufián emphasizes the common challenges faced by workers beyond regional borders, pointing to the need for solidarity and cohesion among the popular sectors in the face of socioeconomic inequalities. In any case, his stance evidences his intention to open a space for reflection on the Spanish left and the role of the working class, maintaining the necessary prudence for a possible formal launch in the coming months
