The spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana (ERC) in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, expressed his doubts this Wednesday about the political reliability of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, hinting that he does not trust him.

In statements to the media in the corridors of the Lower House, Rufián was asked about the latest information regarding the director of the Civil Guard, Mercedes González, after she acknowledged her contacts with Leire Díez, and whether the head of the Executive should withdraw his support. “The question is whether the Prime Minister, first, trusts anyone and, above all, whether he can be trusted,” Rufián stated. When directly questioned about his level of trust in the president, the ERC spokesperson replied briefly: “I trust very few people.”

The pro-independence leader reiterated that the continuity of the Executive in La Moncloa must be linked to the ability to promote significant decisions and substantive reforms, warning that sustaining the legislature without concrete advances lacks political sense.

“What I ask of the Prime Minister is that, beyond saying that others are worse, which we already know, we fill the remainder of the legislature with content,” he said, urging the Government to translate the remaining time in office into tangible initiatives.
