The ERC spokesperson in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has commented on all the latest information that has filled the headlines of the Spanish press this Thursday. Thus, in statements to journalists present in the hemicycle, he expressed that Leire Díez was "mandated" by the PSOE and that it is "obvious" that she was not a simple former militant. The Catalan also took a stance on the statements made yesterday by the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, in a speech in which he accused that "there are judges who pervert justice."
After it became known that the former socialist militant held two meetings with the former right-hand man of the former Attorney General of the State Álvaro García Ortiz, the Catalan expressed that the socialist party ordered these meetings "to try to do what perhaps the PP does more professionally, to try to imitate Villarejo and company." "Here lies the PSOE's mistake," Rufián continued. Likewise, he asserted that it is "obvious" that she was not a simple militant and that the difference between former commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and her is that she was "more shoddy."
"There are judges who do politics," he said in relation to Minister López's words about judges and concluded: "In this country we have had a king who has stolen, politicians who have stolen, and judges who do politics, that's it."
"There are judges who pervert justice"
At an event held on Wednesday by the newspaper 'Público' where the former Attorney General of the State Álvaro García Ortiz was awarded the Person of the Year Award, the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, in his speech accused that "there are judges who pervert justice."
In this context, López clarified about the Supreme Court magistrates: "There are judges who pervert justice, not all of them." Furthermore, in relation to Ortiz's conviction, he added: "If it's not them, it's someone in their circle."
Along the same lines, he wanted to defend the separation of powers, asserting that "the Government governs, Parliament legislates, and Justice does justice" and that the press "controls" power.
Regarding the judicial cases affecting the PSOE, he stated that the Government presided over by Pedro Sánchez "always acts against corruption." Finally, he concluded: "We will not stop being overwhelmed, nor will we stop being run over by those who are trying to mix everything to generate a confusion that is not appropriate."
