The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, upon his arrival at the Council of Europe in Brussels has called for the support of all parliamentary groups to push through a package of urgent measures aimed at alleviating the economic consequences of the war in Iran.
Sánchez has appealed to the “responsibility of all groups” in the face of a situation he has described as a serious crisis, emphasizing the need to act quickly to protect citizens and the most affected sectors. The head of the Executive has insisted that the Government is working on a royal decree with measures that will be addressed in an extraordinary Council of Ministers.
The president has defended that the Executive maintains a “coherent and consistent” position regarding the conflict and has reiterated that the priority is to mitigate the impact socioeconomic derived from the war. In this regard, he has indicated that the Government will act as it already did in previous crises, adopting measures to support households, workers, and businesses.
Sánchez has also stressed that dialogue with political forces will be key to approving the package of measures, insisting that he hopes to reach agreements “due to the responsibility we all have” given the consequences of the conflict.
