Sánchez has criticized the “unilateral attack” against Iran and has insisted that the Spanish Executive “does not support the regime of Iran that represses its citizens and particularly Iranian women”. At the same time, he has warned that the escalation will mean “much more pain and more repression for the citizens of Iran”, in addition to generating “much, much more pain and instability to an area that already, after years of war in Gaza, accumulates many days and much suffering on the part of the population”.
The president has defended that Spain maintains “a consistent position” based on “respect for international law” and has reiterated “a call for de-escalation” and “to find a diplomatic solution to this crisis through peaceful means”, Sánchez concluded.
