The President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, will offer this Wednesday, October 14, a rally in Zaragoza, at the Hotel Hiberus, in a public pre-campaign event that will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held under the slogan “The strength of the people”.
In this meeting, Pedro Sánchez will be accompanied by the general secretary of the PSOE Aragón, Pilar Alegría, in an event that is part of the socialist strategy for the general elections of November 29, in which the party leader will head the candidacy for his re-election as president of the central Executive.
A pre-campaign calendar that starts in Dos Hermanas and Ponferrada
The Zaragoza rally will be Pedro Sánchez's third pre-campaign event after the announcement of the early elections, after the events held this weekend in Dos Hermanas (Seville) and Ponferrada (León).
Before the Aragonese event, the President of the Government participated last Sunday, October 11, in an event in Ponferrada together with the general secretary of the Castilian and Leonese socialists, Carlos Martínez, in a call that the PSOE of Castilla y León interprets as a sign of the weight that the province will have at the start of the campaign.
Socialist sources from the Community maintain that the choice of Ponferrada as the setting for one of the first events means that “León will play a prominent role from the beginning of the electoral calendar”, an assessment that accompanies the deployment of the socialists in this initial phase of the pre-campaign.
Repetition of the alliance between Sánchez and Carlos Martínez
At the event in Ponferrada, Pedro Sánchez shared the stage with Carlos Martínez, as they already did during the campaign for the regional elections last March 15, in which the PSOE improved its results and went from 28 to 30 procurators, although the PP of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco won the elections again with 33 seats, two more than in 2022, while Vox obtained 14 representatives.
In that regional campaign, Pedro Sánchez already accompanied the socialist candidate in several events, including the start in Burgos, as well as two events in Soria and the electoral closing in Valladolid, where the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, and the former President of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, also participated, who months later would end up indicted for alleged irregularities with the rescue of 53 million euros granted by the Executive to the airline Plus Ultra during the pandemic.
