Miguel Tellado has once again placed the judicial situation surrounding the Government at the center of his speech during an informative breakfast organized this Wednesday by Nueva Economía Fórum, where he presented a conference by the president of the Valencian Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca. The general secretary of the Popular Party has described the political moment as an "authentic criminal carousel," an expression with which he alluded to the succession of imputations, searches, arrests, and judicial resolutions that, in his opinion, affect Pedro Sánchez's inner circle.
It was not the first time that the PP leadership has resorted to that term. Just a few weeks ago, it was Alberto Núñez Feijóo who described the Executive's situation as a "criminal, unsustainable, and indecent carousel" during an event in Leganés, where he urged the Government's parliamentary partners to stop supporting Sánchez.
Tellado has insisted that Spain needs a change of Government to leave behind what he has called "the decadence and delinquency of Sanchismo." He has also maintained that the President of the Government and "his 126 accused must leave power for democratic hygiene," considering that the continuity of the Executive is incompatible with the political and judicial situation that, he has denounced, the country is going through. Along the same lines, Tellado has questioned whether the Government delegate in Madrid, Mercedes González, and the president of SEPI, Belén Gualda, should continue in their responsibilities. He has pointed to them as the Executive's "firewalls" and has considered their permanence in office incompatible after their indictment.
The criticisms have also reached former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. Tellado recalled that, after announcing that he would collaborate with Justice, he would now have focused his strategy on "trying to overturn the investigation" and seeking the "nullity of the case." "What does Zapatero have to hide, what is he so afraid of?" he asked.
Likewise, the popular leader has directed his reproaches at the regional financing model proposed by the Government. He has accused Sánchez of using this debate as an instrument to strengthen his parliamentary support and has maintained that he intends to achieve through the distribution of resources "what he cannot achieve cleanly at the polls." In contrast, he has guaranteed that an eventual Government of Alberto Núñez Feijóo "will stop dead in its tracks" any system that, in the opinion of the PP, establishes privileges between autonomous communities.
Finally, he has defended the management of the president of the Valencian Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, whom he has presented as an example of institutional stability and capacity for reconstruction after the DANA. Tellado has maintained that this model demonstrates that it is possible to govern and advance "without help from Moncloa," a formula that he has positioned as a reference for the political project that the Popular Party aspires to extend to the entire country.
