The Audiencia Provincial de Madrid has issued a resolution in which it annuls, for now, the decision of judge Juan Carlos Peinado that the future trial against Begoña Gómez for alleged crimes of embezzlement, influence peddling, corruption in business, misappropriation, and professional intrusion be carried out in the presence of a popular jury.
The magistrates of Section 23, who are responsible for hearing the appeals that the investigated parties file against Peinado's decisions, have partially sided with the wife of the President of the Government and her assistant, Cristina Álvarez, also implicated in the case. In its brief, the court considers that the instructor has not correctly motivated his decision with "a minimum minimum determination of the specific facts, nor of the conduct attributed to each of the investigated parties".
