The far-right agitator Vito Quiles would have linked his new pseudo-media 'Combativos' to a non-existent company, according to FACUA

The Consumers in Action Association maintains that the 'Combativos' website identifies as its owner a company that, it claims, does not exist and that donations would end up in Quiles' personal bank account

FACUA-Consumidores en Acción has reported Vito Quiles to the Secretary of State for Digitalization and the Spanish Data Protection Agency for alleged irregularities detected on the website of his new pseudo-media outlet, 'Combativos.com'. The organization claims that the portal identifies a company called Combativos SL as the owner, which, it states, is not registered in the Commercial Registry.

According to the complaint released by FACUA, both the legal notice and the privacy policy of the website attribute ownership of the site to this company, although the association assures that there is no official record of its constitution. Furthermore, it claims that the page does not provide the NIF (tax identification number) or the address of the supposed owner, information whose publication it considers mandatory in accordance with current regulations.

The organization has also pointed out that the portal requests donations intended, according to the information appearing on the website itself, to finance the activity of Combativos SL and projects related to the "production of free content and scholarships for young people". However, FACUA assures that, upon completing the donation process, the bank account provided for the deposit is in the name of Vito Quiles. In the opinion of the consumer association, these facts could constitute a breach of Article 10 of the Law on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce, as well as Article 11 of the Organic Law on Data Protection. For this reason, it has requested action from both the Secretary of State for Digitalization and the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

A project that aims to "end Sánchez"

The project defines itself on its website as an "integral communication medium and free platform," although its presentation is much closer to agitation than to journalism. The welcome message speaks of a "media revolution that will liberate Spain" and offers events, meetings, interviews, news, and investigations to "change the course" of the country. The boundary between information, activism, and campaign against the Executive remains quite blurred from the very first minute.

Vito Quiles' new digital project is presented as an "integral communication medium and free platform." At its launch, the space is defined under a discourse of "media revolution" with which, according to its message, it aims to "liberate Spain" and "change the course" of the country through informative content, interviews, events, and alleged investigations.

The tone of the platform is marked from the beginning by a language of political confrontation and appeals to a community that identifies itself as “politically incorrect”. In this framework, the project is presented as a kind of space of “resistance”, in which information coexists with a narrative of activism and opposition to the Government.
