The spokesperson for Vox in the Parliament, Joan Garriga, has rectified this Saturday his statements about who can be considered Spanish and has clarified that “Spanish is he who has Spanish nationality”.

In statements to the press, Garriga has recognized that he was wrong and that he left his previous answer incomplete, adding that “there are more ways to acquire nationality” Spanish.

However, he has maintained that PSOE and PP have “excessively facilitated access to nationality” and has affirmed that his party commits to toughening the conditions to obtain it. Likewise, he has positively valued the agreements between PP and Vox in Extremadura and Aragon, highlighting that “national priority has been established for access to housing”.

In relation to the celebration of Sant Jordi, Garriga has denounced the aggressions that, according to him, Vox stalls suffered in cities like Barcelona, Sabadell, Mataró and Cambrils. The spokesman has assured that the party will undertake legal actions “against the material and intellectual authors of the aggressions” and has asked the rest of the parliamentary groups to condemn these events.

He has also described what happened as violence “exaggerated, inadequate and very reprehensible” and has warned that “it does not come out of nowhere”. In this regard, he has pointed to members of CUP and has criticized the inaction of the Parliament Bureau and the Govern to prevent these episodes.
