The Government of Pedro Sánchez has strongly condemned the attack perpetrated during the LGTBIQ+ Pride celebrations in Berlin, where a multiple hit-and-run recorded on Saturday night left at least one dead and 16 people injured, several of them seriously. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has expressed its condolences to the victims and has reiterated Spain's support for the LGTBIQ+ community.

In an official statement, Foreign Affairs has conveyed its "deepest condolences and solidarity to the German people for the victims of the attack that occurred during the LGTBIQ+ Pride Day celebrations in Berlin." Likewise, it has stressed that Spain and Germany share "the values of freedom, equality, and dignity that Pride represents" and has emphasized that "we condemn this type of attack with the utmost firmness." "Hate and violence have no place in our societies. We will always stand by the LGTBIQ+ Community," the text adds.

The events occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. in Tiergarten Park in the German capital, when a vehicle ran over attendees participating in the Pride events. According to authorities, the alleged perpetrator abandoned the car after crashing into a tree and reportedly subsequently stabbed several people before fleeing. The incident has been classified as a terrorist attack.

German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, has condemned the attack and defined it as an "abominable" act. Furthermore, he has assured that those responsible will be identified and prosecuted "with full severity," while also conveying his support to the victims and their families, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, and thanking the emergency services and security forces for their actions.
