The Government has decided to apply a series of fiscal measures to confront the energy price increase derived from the conflict with Iran, among them the reduction of fuel VAT, which will go from 21% to 10%. This reduction seeks to alleviate the direct impact on consumers and sectors especially dependent on fuel.
The package also includes a reduction in the special tax on hydrocarbons, as well as the reduction of VAT on electricity and gas, which will also drop from 21% to 10%. Added to these measures is the suspension of the tax on the value of electricity production, with the aim of containing energy prices.
From the Executive, they defend that these decisions will allow cushioning the impact of the energy crisis on households and businesses, in a scenario marked by uncertainty in international markets. The measures will have temporary nature and will be subject to the evolution of the conflict and energy prices
