The Guadalajara fire exceeds 26,000 hectares while four other fires keep half of Spain on alert

The wildfire situation continues to be critical in different parts of the country. Castilla-La Mancha, Aragon, and Castilla y León maintain extensive operations deployed to contain several active fires, on a day marked by high temperatures and difficulties in controlling the evolution of the flames.

The fire declared in the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara remains the largest. The fire has already devastated more than 26,000 hectares and has forced the evacuation of 34 localities, in addition to keeping another 14 municipalities confined. The extinction teams have begun to modify the initial strategy to progressively move from containment efforts to more offensive actions on the perimeter of the fire.

Aragon keeps the Orés fire stabilized

Meanwhile, the fire registered in Orés, in the Zaragoza region of Cinco Villas, remains stabilized after affecting some 15,000 hectares. The Government of Aragon is already working on the progressive return of residents who had to leave their homes, although the operation remains deployed to prevent possible reactivations.

The community also concentrates its efforts on a new fire declared in Ejulve, Teruel, which remains active and has forced the preventive evacuation of residents of Molinos. Initial estimates place the affected area at around 1,000 hectares, while the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires (PROCINFO) remains activated in Operational Situation 2, level 2, with the participation of the Military Emergency Unit (UME).

New fires raise tension in Castilla y León

In Castilla y León, the Junta has declared Operational Situation 1 due to the high number of fires registered and the complexity of extinction efforts. Among them, the fire declared in Brieva, Segovia, stands out, which maintains level 2 of the Potential Severity Index after forcing the evacuation of eight population centers near the fire. Added to this scenario is another active fire in Retortillo, Soria, also under surveillance by emergency services.
