The head of Instruction Court number 25 of Madrid investigating has summoned for next May 6 to testify as accused, in the capacity of investigated, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, chief of staff of the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, for the alleged dissemination of personal data of two journalists.
The judicial decision is part of an investigation opened after the complaint filed by the affected professionals, who maintain that their personal data was disseminated without their consent. Ayuso's right-hand man disseminated in a chat with 18 contacts that two journalists from El País had been "harassing the neighbors" of President Ayuso.
Both were working on information about Alberto González Amador, partner of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the alleged tax fraud for which he is being prosecuted. The court is trying to clarify whether Miguel Ángel Rodríguez's actions could have constituted a violation of data protection regulations or other rights linked to privacy.
According to the judicial resolution, the magistrate considers it necessary to take a statement from Rodríguez to clarify the circumstances in which the investigated events occurred. The summons as an investigated person allows the leader to explain his version within the judicial procedure.
The summons of Rodríguez represents one more step in the judicial procedure, which is still in investigation phase. In this stage, the court gathers evidence and takes statements from the people involved to subsequently decide if there are sufficient indications to continue the process through the criminal route.
