ERC and Podem Catalunya are finalizing an agreement to run jointly in the four Catalan provinces in the general elections on November 29, as sources familiar with the negotiation confirmed to ElConstitucional.es this Sunday.
The objective, according to the same sources, would be to articulate an "impact candidacy" that would be led by the current spokesperson for ERC in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, along with the Podemos MEP and former minister, Irene Montero.
Rufián, at the head of the republican list
In parallel to these conversations, ERC confirmed this Sunday that Gabriel Rufián will finally be the head of the republican list for the upcoming elections on November 29.
The party plans to formalize the decision at a meeting of the party's National Executive and, over the next few days, finalize the details of the candidacy with the holding of the different regional congresses.
Rufián, present in Podemos' national campaign
The same sources indicate to this newspaper that the agreement would also contemplate that Gabriel Rufián could campaign with Podemos in the rest of the State, while both parties are still studying whether to run under the acronym ERC-Podem or to opt for the republican brand with independents linked to the purples.
For now, negotiations remain open and the details of the alliance are still being defined, awaiting the internal bodies of ERC and the territorial congresses to finalize the fit of the candidacy.
