The King and Queen of Spain, Felipe VI and Letizia, presided over the official inauguration of the 46th International Tourism Fair (FITUR) this Thursday at Ifema, Madrid, in an atmosphere marked by the recent train accident in Adamuz (Córdoba), which caused multiple fatalities and days of national mourning. The fair began on Wednesday with a minute of silence for the victims and is being held amidst a context of respect and sobriety following the tragedy.

This year's edition, which features **Mexico as the guest country** and brings together thousands of companies and exhibitors from around the world, is taking place with somewhat reduced institutional participation: railway operators affected by the tragedy, such as **Iryo and Renfe**, have **canceled their scheduled events** as a sign of respect and solidarity with those suffering the consequences of the accident.

During the inauguration, the King and Queen spoke with various authorities and representatives from the tourism sector, emphasizing the importance of keeping the tourism momentum alive despite the painful situation the country is going through, and they began with the stand of the Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix. FITUR's official events coincide with the days following the accident, which is still under investigation and in which recovery and victim care efforts are ongoing.
