The Royal House has expressed this Friday its sorrow for the forest fire that affects the municipalities of Los Gallardos and Bédar, in Almería, and which has left so far eleven dead and 19 people missing. Through a statement disseminated on the social network 'X', Kings Felipe VI and Letizia have shown themselves "deeply dismayed by the tragedy of the Los Gallardos fire" and have conveyed their "sadness and sorrow to the families and loved ones of the deceased and to all those affected".

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have also wanted to acknowledge the work of the teams deployed on the ground, expressing their "recognition and support to the emergency services and to all the personnel who, with professionalism and commitment, continue working to face this situation".

The words from the Royal Household come on a day marked by institutional reactions to the tragedy. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also spoke via 'X', where she assured that "our thoughts are with the victims of these wildfires and their families" and conveyed her support to Spain and to "the brave firefighters and rescuers" working on the extinction, confirming that Brussels is following the situation "closely" and in contact with the Spanish authorities.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, had expressed hours earlier his "enormous sadness and desolation" over the fire, sending his condolences to the families of the deceased and confirming the dispatch of reinforcements from the Ministry for Ecological Transition, Civil Protection and the State Security Forces and Corps.

For his part, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has suspended the swearing-in of his new regional Government as a sign of solidarity with the victims. "With a heavy heart and broken with pain. Our deepest condolences to the families of those who died in the fire and the affection of all to the affected municipalities," Moreno wrote, calling what happened a "tragedy" and assuring that he felt "dismayed by this terrible news."

The general secretary of PSOE-A, María Jesús Montero, has also joined the list of reactions, declaring herself "totally shocked" by what happened. She has conveyed her "affection, support, and deepest condolences" to the victims' families, describing the event as the greatest tragedy experienced in Andalusia due to a forest fire.
