The toughest and most denialist sector of Vox has launched a parliamentary offensive against climate policy. The Parliamentary Group led by Santiago Abascal will defend this Monday, February 16 in the Congress's Commission for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge a Non-Law Proposal (PNL) to demand the repeal of the Climate Change Law and the European Green Deal.
The initiative proposes that Congress urge the Government to scrap both the Climate Change and Energy Transition Law and the European framework, and to reverse policies aimed at developing an energy mix "that guarantees the security and stability of electricity supply, as well as affordable prices for Spaniards".
Furthermore, the training demands accelerating the construction of infrastructures linked to all available energy sources with the objective of achieving energy sovereignty. In this vein, it proposes recognizing nuclear energy and gas as "clean and sustainable energies," activating "all necessary mechanisms" to halt the closure of thermal power plants and proceeding with the reconnection of those that have already been shut down.
Lastly, Vox defends that the Government promote within the European Union the adaptation of the "impositions" on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to the specific needs of Spain and its industrial fabric, in order to advance towards less polluting sources without putting employment or wealth generation at risk.
