The National Court has dismissed this Monday the lawsuit filed by the association Hazte Oír against former President of the Government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who accused him of collaborating with the regime of Nicolás Maduro (Venezuela) in crimes such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and belonging to a criminal organization"If there are indications of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking and money laundering, and of those who would have facilitated its operations and international impunity, Spain must investigate to the end," they assured from the association. The judge Antonio Piña has considered that the complaint does not provide rational indications of criminality and is based on journalistic information, without facts being described that justify and verify the opening of criminal proceedings."Personal or popular belief cannot be confused with the existence of facts that have sufficient substance for the opening of criminal proceedings," the magistrate added. The Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office also issued a similar statement, pointing out that the facts indicated in the complaint "are not susceptible of being classified as a crime of money laundering from drug trafficking" and that there were no indications on the part of the former president
The lawsuit was filed by Hazte Oír after the arrest of Nicolás Maduro in the United States, at the hands of Donald Trump, but the court has decided that there is no basis to criminally investigate José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
