The spokesperson for the PNV in Congress, Maribel Vaquero, rejected this Saturday that her party be framed in any "bloc" after the elections on November 29 and warned the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, that Basque nationalists will not go with Vox "not even to inherit".
In an interview on the program Parlamento on RNE, collected by Europa Press, Vaquero answered questions about eventual support for an investiture of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and insisted that her party will always act "in a Basque key".
"We are not going to be in making one or the other president, we operate in a Basque key. And what we have to understand is what is best for Basque citizens. However, we do not believe that we have to be in a system of blocs because that does not help the citizens," explained the spokesperson for the PNV.
Vaquero also stressed that her party will not be "in any bloc or giving any support to anything that means democratic involution." Immediately afterwards, she issued a direct warning: "Evidently, with Vox, as we always say, not even to inherit."
Criticism of the PP for its rapprochement with Vox
Asked specifically if those words close the door to a hypothetical investiture of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the jeltzale spokesperson pointed out that the Popular Party is "totally following the policies of Vox" and added that there, "of course," they will not find the PNV.
Vaquero lamented, at the same time, that "tension" and "political tension" have made it impossible to close agreements on important issues during a legislature that, as she recalled, was born with a "very weak majority" that has not managed to consolidate.
The spokesperson for the PNV distributed responsibilities between the PP, which she accuses of sending increasingly "tense" messages as it approached Vox, and the PSOE, which she reproaches for "not having helped much" by entering into some issues. In her opinion, the Government "often forgot that it did not have a majority" and acted as if it did.
"On occasion, what we have seen is a lack of humility to move some issues forward," said Maribel Vaquero, who also denounced the "abuse of decree-laws" by the Executive, to which she attributes having resorted to that route because "agreements have not been reached on certain projects and bills."
"Following" of Bildu to the PSOE
In her diagnosis of the legislature, Vaquero admitted that the situation was "very difficult" because "everyone has a very different ideology," although she defended that the PNV has continued to work to reach agreements for the benefit of the "quality of life of citizens."
She also criticized Bildu, a party she accuses of "total subservience to the PSOE." "It has rarely voted differently from what the Socialist Party has voted, I believe there was a mere following of many of the policies," she said, while contrasting that attitude with that of the PNV, which, she defended, acts "in a Basque key, so that Euskadi has more self-government" and in favor of the citizens and companies of the autonomous community.
