Pope Leo XIV expressed his gratitude to Spain this Sunday after concluding his apostolic journey to the country, a visit he described as especially significant. During the Angelus prayer in St. Peter's Square, the Pontiff thanked the Spanish people for the welcome they extended to him throughout his stay.

In his message, the Pope particularly highlighted the figure of King Felipe VI, whom he personally thanked for his hospitality and collaboration during the trip. Leo XIV also extended his recognition to the bishops, the communities visited, and the entire Spanish Church for their involvement in the events held during the visit.

“May God always bless Spain,” the Pontiff expressed to the faithful gathered in the Vatican, emphasizing the enthusiasm and devotion he encountered during his tour of different Spanish cities.

The trip concluded last Friday with the Pope's return to Rome. Finally, Leo XIV traveled aboard a Falcon aircraft provided by King Felipe VI after the commercial aircraft on which he was scheduled to return suffered a technical incident that forced a reorganization of the displacement.

In addition to referring to Spain, the Pontiff showed his closeness to the victims of the recent earthquake registered in the Philippines, recalled several beatifications celebrated in different countries, and asked that the example of the new martyrs and missionaries serve as an inspiration for the work of the Church throughout the world.
