The PP attacks and questions the actions of the Sánchez Government in the face of the migratory crisis in Ceuta: "It has shown a serious dereliction of duty"

This same Monday, the Popular Parliamentary Group has launched a parliamentary offensive from the Congress of Deputies and the Senate, through various initiatives in relation to the Government's actions in the current migratory crisis. The PP proposes urgent measures to be adopted so that the events that occurred in the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla are not repeated, in the face of which Sánchez has demonstrated a "serious dereliction of duty", and which has caused an unprecedented tragedy with almost a hundred deaths, communicates the Popular Party.

"The PP warns, proposes and legislates; it is about reforming the Law to provide protection to the State Security Forces and Corps so that this return at the border can be carried out with full legality and with all guarantees," the popular party highlights. Given these circumstances, the GPP has registered a carousel of questions to be answered in writing by the Government, as well as a request for documentation to know the reports, statistics of irregular entries, instructions from the Ministry of Interior after the Supreme Court ruling, as well as action protocols. They also demand data on daily entry attempts, the number of people who died when entering Ceuta; the specific actions of the Government to dismantle criminal organizations dedicated to human trafficking in that territory and the extraordinary economic cost that the Government has allocated to face this migratory pressure. 

In addition, the PP demands to know: "What assessment does the Government make of the consequences that the application of the Supreme Court ruling will have for Ceuta and what measures it plans to adopt to ensure that the city has the necessary human, material and economic resources to face this new situation."

From Congress, they have also registered a battery of written questions addressed to the Government in which they want to know if: "Did the Government have knowledge that this avalanche of immigrants entering Ceuta from Morocco could happen?" "If so: Since when has the Government anticipated by reinforcing the means of the State Security Forces and Corps to defend the sovereignty of Ceuta and not allow the illegal entry of said immigrants? What extraordinary reinforcements of personnel, material means, and operational capabilities of the Civil Guard and the National Police have been deployed in Ceuta since the beginning of this episode of migratory avalanche?", the questions say.

In the same way, they want to question the Executive about "the extraordinary measures it will adopt to return all immigrants who have illegally entered Ceuta to Morocco", and about the "diplomatic actions that the Government has promoted with the Moroccan authorities to prevent massive departures from its territory". "What reserve and intervention units of the Civil Guard and the National Police have a specific rapid deployment protocol or plan to deal with episodes of massive migratory pressure like those recently occurred in Ceuta or Melilla in 2022?", another of the questions dictates.

They have continued, from a health point of view, asking if: "the Government -Ministry of Health- plans to attend to the request made by the Official College of Physicians of Ceuta and urgently materialize some measure of real utility given the fact that 'we are at the limit' in the context of the migratory crisis that has occurred in recent days."

Finally, the PP denounces a very serious dereliction of duty by the President of the Government, ignoring all warnings about the risk of a massive entry through the Ceuta border, and denounces the notable overload of the State Security Forces and Corps, reception resources, and public services that has ended up becoming a first-order migratory crisis. "For the PP, this crisis situation extrapolates to the rest of the country and calls into question Spain's external image, where 22 EU countries have questioned the Government's migratory policies", they concluded.
