The Popular Party is preparing a package of fiscal measures that it will take to Congress with which it seeks to alleviate economic pressure on Spanish households. As sources from the National Directorate of the Popular Party have advanced to 'ElConstitucional.es', the measures will mean a saving of "75 euros per month and almost 900 per year for an average household of 2 adults and two children".
The PP maintains that “Spaniards have been losing purchasing power since the government of” Pedro Sánchez's Executive. In this sense, they criticize that “real wages do not rise” while “taxes, yes”, to which is added the rising cost of energy, which -they assure- “further worsens the situation of families”. Furthermore, they criticize: “It is not time for slogans. It is time for proposals”.
Given this scenario, the party proposes several fiscal measures. Among them, a reform of the IRPF with which they intend to “revalue the salary of Spaniards, and especially of families with children”. According to the same sources, the proposal involves “doubling the vital minimums for dependent children and updating the tax brackets”, which would have “an approximate impact of 200 euros on average per taxpayer”.
The package also includes reductions in the energy bill. Specifically, the PP proposes “lowering the energy VAT to 10% for all consumers” in a context marked by the increase in gas and oil prices, as well as “abolishing the electricity generation tax”.
According to the party's calculations, the set of measures would mean for an average household -two adults and two children- “a saving of about 75 euros per month, almost 900 euros per year.”
“If this is about slogans we have one: Yes to Spaniards”, they highlight, and, point out that the initiative is carried out due to the need to act in the face of the increase in the cost of living and they defend that these are measures “of urgent application” in a situation in which, they assure, “it is always the middle classes who end up paying the bill for all crises”.
Throughout today, the Deputy Secretary of Economy, Alberto Nadal, will expand on information through his account on X, the Deputy Secretary of Treasury, Juan Bravo, will detail the proposals in statements scheduled in Burgos and the national president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will comment on the package of economic measures in his speech this afternoon.
