The PSOE has announced that it will request the Court of Auditors to open an investigation into the forgiveness of 71.6 million euros by the Community of Madrid to the healthcare groups Quirón and Ribera Salud, in a case that Óscar López has described as an “scandal” in an interview with RNE and which once again brings to debate the management of public healthcare in the community.
The announcement was made by López himself, minister of Digital Transformation and Public Function and leader of the PSOE of Madrid, who explained that his party intends to ask the supervisory body to open "a procedure" through which the forgiveness of that millionaire sum, which allegedly occurred between 2017 and 2023, derived from treatments that public hospitals carried out on patients from subsidized centers, without these expenses being correctly reflected in the official accounting, will be analyzed.
López has also criticized several economic decisions of the regional government, pointing out that funds originally intended for nursing homes have been allocated to pay private healthcare groups. In this context, he also referred to increases in the health budget, from 800 million euros to 1.6 billion in final execution. According to the PSOE, the forgiveness of 71 million is part of a management model that ends up negatively affecting public services.
