The PSOE has responded to the statements being made in the Supreme Court within the framework of the mask case, insisting that there is no irregular financing linked to its Ferraz headquarters. The spokesperson for the federal Executive, Montse Mínguez, has stressed that the cash handled by the party comes from its current accounts and is duly justified.
"We are a clean party", Mínguez affirmed in Congress, also downplaying the novelty of the accusations and recalling that this information has been circulating "for more than a year." In this regard, he defended that the PSOE has always acted forcefully in the face of any suspicion, taking internal measures from the first moment and collaborating with Justice.
The socialist leader has placed the emphasis on the transparency of the party's accounts, which, as she explained, have been externally audited and analyzed during the investigation of the case. “The cash inflows and outflows match mimetically,” she assured, insisting that all economic operations are registered and controlled.
Furthermore, Mínguez has taken the opportunity to mark differences with the Popular Party on corruption matters. He has argued that none of those investigated in this case belong to the PSOE and has contrasted this situation with other judicial proceedings affecting the PP. In his opinion, the actions of both parties are not comparable, since the socialists, he stressed, expel those involved, while “the cash in Génova ended in judicial convictions.”
