The Board of the Congress of Deputies has initiated this Wednesday the allegations procedure against Vito Quiles for three new infractions considered serious. The accumulation of files could lead to the definitive withdrawal of his accreditation as a journalist in the Chamber during the coming weeks.
The three new proposed sanctions respond to different episodes that occurred in Congress. Two of them are related to the publication on social networks of images whose dissemination was not permitted and which had been obtained within the Chamber, while the third has to do with the interruption of a press conference.
The legal services of Congress consider that the repetition of these behaviors evidences a conscious and deliberate action aimed at seriously harming the ordinary functioning of the institution. Quiles will now have two weeks to present allegations. The Board will also inform him that each of the three new infractions, individually, could be elevated to the consideration of a very serious offense taking into account the two previous sanctioning files.
Should they finally be classified as very serious offenses, the foreseen regime contemplates sanctions that can range from a three-month expulsion to the definitive withdrawal of press accreditation.
Congress has also opened a period of allegations for Bertrand Ndongo, who faces his second sanction. In his case, the proposal corresponds to a serious offense and contemplates a one-month expulsion from the Chamber.
