Más Madrid's proposal for Ada Colau to be the Broad Front's candidate has received an immediate response from its partners. United Left (IU) demands that both the leadership and the lists be agreed upon by all organizations. The Comuns, the party of the former mayor of Barcelona, have also warned that the negotiation remains open and that nothing will be closed until a global pact is reached.

The reaction comes hours after Mónica García's party made public its support for Colau as a candidate for the Presidency of the Government from Barcelona. At the same time, Más Madrid demands to draw up the list for the Madrid constituency and place its leaders in the top positions. Colau's candidacy thus gains significant support, although the announcement has revealed the dispute over electoral distribution.

"Candidacies, names, and election mechanisms must be part of a global, democratic, and shared agreement," sources from IU state. Antonio Maíllo's party calls for responsibility and generosity so that all parties are well represented. It also reaches out to Podemos again, which it wants to incorporate into the broadest possible alliance.

The Comuns have avoided commenting on the formula proposed for Colau. They admit progress in recent hours, but recall that there are still pending conversations with other forces. Movimiento Sumar, for its part, asks that contacts continue with discretion.

Colau gains support and Madrid concentrates the dispute

'ElConstitucional.es' reported that the former mayor had become the option with the most possibilities to bring together the different organizations. Her profile can facilitate rapprochement with Podemos, with whom she maintains open bridges, and her trajectory in the fight for housing fits with one of the issues that will mark the November 29 campaign. Sources familiar with the conversations consulted by this newspaper believe that there is broad consensus around her name, still pending the final agreement.

Más Madrid's proposal leaves Mónica García as a possible head of the list for Madrid. Emilio Delgado, Tesh Sidi, and Eduardo Fernández Rubiño also appear in the top positions in the conversations. Delgado has told 'ElConstitucional.es' of his willingness to occupy the place his party considers most useful, although he insists that "nothing is closed" and asks to respect the negotiation.

That distribution directly affects a possible pact with Podemos. One of the options examined so far placed Irene Montero in a prominent position on the Madrid list. Más Madrid's intention to reserve the first places for its referents reduces the margin to fit her in and forces a discussion of candidacies along with the general leadership.

Podemos keeps primaries on the table

Consulted by 'ElConstitucional.es' after Más Madrid's move, sources from Podemos summarize their position in one word: "Primaries". The purples propose holding them on October 14 and 15. They have also opened the door to negotiating a joint list beforehand and then submitting it to citizen ratification, without the need to face two candidacies in the vote.

Colau has publicly defended that Podemos be part of the agreement. Her possible election as a candidate can help resume that conversation, but it is still necessary to decide how the lists will be chosen and what place will correspond to each party. IU wants to participate in those decisions and the Comuns insist on waiting for the complete pact.

The formations are scheduled to meet again this Thursday. According to sources consulted by 'ElConstitucional.es', Colau's name could be announced on Friday, although they do not rule out that the agreement will arrive sooner. The deadline to register coalitions ends on October 16, thirteen days before the 29N campaign officially begins.
