The man who on Wednesday threatened Canal Red journalist Alejandra Martínez while defending agitator Vito Quiles has a criminal record. According to what La Nueva España has revealed, the individual was convicted in 2021 for attempted murder following a violent assault that occurred in Gijón. The events for which he was sentenced date back five years, when he burst into a tattoo parlor armed with a stake and attacked the owner of the establishment. The assault was especially violent: the victim received multiple blows to the head that caused him extremely serious injuries and left him unconscious.
According to the Prosecutor's Office's account, the blows put the tattoo artist's life at risk and, had he not received immediate medical attention, he could have died. The accused accepted a three-year prison sentence and the payment of 20,000 euros in compensation, with the concurrence of mitigating circumstances related to his mental state and drug addiction. After serving his sentence, he is currently free.
In that same week, the now investigated for threats was accused of starring in other violent episodes in the Asturian city. In one of them, he left a young man unconscious and with a fractured jaw, whom he attacked without a word while he was walking down the street. In another case, he assaulted a man in a bar, giving him several punches suddenly. When he was arrested, he also showed an aggressive attitude towards the officers.
The individual has a record since he was a teenager and has multiple arrests for crimes such as assault, resisting arrest, and theft, in addition to attempted homicide. This Wednesday he once again found himself in the spotlight after confronting the Canal Red journalist during a public appearance by Vito Quiles. "Give me the gun, I'll do it", he even said in the reporter's presence, in an episode that has generated a strong political and media reaction.
