The Vox spokesperson in Congress, Pepa Rodríguez de Millán, avoided participating this Tuesday in giving an opinion on whether the controversial words of the former President of the Government Mariano Rajoy against the players of the French national football team are racist or not, and also considers that the controversy that has arisen is "a smokescreen", in which she refuses to participate.

Mariano Rajoy stated in an opinion column that the French team "has a very high level, yes, without Frenchmen". The Government has asked the PP to disavow the former president and the 'populares' believe that his statements had no ill intention. And this Tuesday, in a press conference in Congress, Rodríguez de Millán was asked about whether Vox sees these words as racist. To this question, the spokesperson declined to evaluate them, because she understands that, "a political sector is using them as a smokescreen to divert attention from what is truly important, such as the cases of alleged corruption affecting the PSOE and the president's inner circle, Pedro Sánchez". Furthermore, the spokesperson highlighted that Rajoy is a former president who currently does not participate in active political life. "We have little to say," she concluded.

Marine Le Pen's party also against Rajoy

The French party National Rally, led by the far-right Marine Le Pen, has joined the criticisms that have described as racist the recent statements by former Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, "Mr. Rajoy is a racist. Simply put, his statements are scandalous, shameful, and regrettable. Everyone should condemn them," said Julien Odoul, a deputy in the French National Assembly and spokesperson for Le Pen's party. The spokesperson linked these comments to people who are "obsessed with race" and who believe that skin color and origin determine everything." To conclude his message, he said: "That is totally the antithesis of the French project. The French project is that there are three colors: blue, white, and red, whatever the origin or religion of each one," exclaimed Odoul.
