The national spokesperson for Demographic Emergency and Social Policies of Vox, Rocío de Meer, assured this Thursday that the Government has ignored evictions and the housing situation during its eight years in office, and has accused the Executive of “instrumentalizing” the death of Maricarmen, the 87-year-old woman who died on Wednesday, two weeks after being evicted from her home.
In an interview granted to ‘El Programa de AR’, De Meer stated that her party “laments the tragedy” experienced by this woman, while pointing to the PSOE for the eviction. “It is the one that has been governing for eight years,” she emphasized.
Vox's criticism of the PSOE's housing policy
The Vox leader criticized socialist housing policies, which she held responsible for having generated “ruin and precariousness.” According to her, “not only have they evicted her, but they are instrumentalizing a tragedy through an elderly lady, her family, and her friends,” words with which she described the situation as “absolutely lamentable.”
De Meer added that the Government “has no scruples” about “doing these things.”
Hermann Tertsch calls for an autopsy and links the death to Sánchez
For his part, Vox MEP, Hermann Tertsch, also pointed to the responsibility of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in Maricarmen's death, and justified his words by alluding to “the plot to eliminate Judge Biedma” and “Maricarmen's direct accusations against Sánchez as the main culprit of her eviction.”
In that context, Tertsch considered it “essential to know exactly the causes” of the woman's “sudden death,” which is why he requested an autopsy in a message published on his X social media account.
Vox's reaction after learning of the death
Vox assured on Thursday, upon learning of Maricarmen's death, that they had “killed” her. In a message disseminated on X, the party chaired by Santiago Abascal stated that “without any scruples they have used the suffering of an elderly person to mount a campaign to hide the Government's responsibility for the housing disaster.”
Likewise, the party reiterated that the Government of Pedro Sánchez has generated “ruin and death,” and listed among the episodes it cites the blackout, the dana, the railway accident in Adamuz, and the crisis in Ceuta.
