'Okdiario' has just published a headline in which it assures that the Civil Guard says that I am “a member of a harassment network”. A harassment network integrated by left-wing people, dedicated to revealing identities of people for ideological reasons, curtailing their right to anonymity that social networks provide. So it's time, again, to debunk hoaxes.
Last week, the far-right lawyer and disseminator of fake news and hate messages Jesús Santorio Lorenzo (@SrLiberal) called me on the phone to warn me that he knows many dark secrets about me, among them that my name appears in a Civil Guard investigation. During the call, he demanded that I delete a message from my Twitter account where I mentioned him. After the conversation, it was he who ended up deleting more than 30,000 tweets.
I do not know the full content of that police report, although the body of the news of the libel by Eduardo Inda clarifies that what the Civil Guard really says is “no evidence has been found directly linking Rubén to the investigation carried out”. That is to say, that its headline lies as shamelessly as usual. A fake headline crafted with the sole intention of discrediting me, knowing that the vast majority of those who read it will not bother to read the full information.
What I do know is that the complaint that has given rise to that investigation is one of the many and different far-right figures who in recent years have filed against me or against people with whom I have had contact. Given this, I have to remember that I am a journalist and that the work I carry out investigating anonymous profiles dedicated to the dissemination of far-right hate speech on social media always draws from publicly available sources and does not incur any type of criminal offense.
In recent years I have investigated together with other journalists and social media experts the identities of people who sheltered behind anonymity to launch death threats, calls for gang rapes and extraordinarily serious hoaxes against politicians, journalists, judges, their partners and their daughters. Anonymous profiles that in not a few cases have tens or hundreds of thousands of followers. My family and I are among the victims of that type of messages, so some of those investigations aimed to undertake legal actions against their authors or help other affected parties to do so. Currently, there are two judicial and police investigations underway precisely to verify the identity of two of the people who have threatened me with death.
The results of several of those research works I have published both on my social networks and in my book HOAXES: COMBAT MANUAL. All the investigations I develop draw from public sources and I usually consult my lawyers before publishing them.
Many of my harassers or defamers have pretended to present themselves publicly as victims of harassment by me when I have uncovered their identities or published their criminal record. Several of them have even taken me to court, in several cases accusing me of crimes of discovery and revelation of secrets, without evidently having obtained any conviction against me. One of those people, who repeatedly called my partner “whore” and threatened to kill or made calls to murder journalists and politicians such as Antonio García Ferreras, Ana Pastor, Alberto Garzón, Pablo Iglesias, Pedro Sánchez and their daughters, came to denounce me for threats when I brought their full name to light. Obviously, their complaint was dismissed by the courts.
By the way, as of today there are 13 far-right individuals who have taken me to court. 13 that I know of. None of them has ever managed to get me convicted, neither through criminal nor civil proceedings. I have sued and reported a long list of others. As of today, I have won 30 judgments. And I have 26 open legal proceedings against far-right individuals and businesses. 22 of them initiated by me. Six through criminal proceedings and 16 through civil proceedings. The other four are proceedings against me, all civil, for right to honor and rectification.
The Civil Guard report echoed by 'Okdiario' points to me because the ultra Alberto Gonzalo de Juan, better known as Alberto Pugilato, denounced a social media expert who has helped uncover many identities of profiles dedicated to harassment, threats, and defamation. That complaint led the judge to order the seizure of his mobile phone. Through his mobile, they downloaded his email messages. And among them there is an exchange of emails between him and me. Emails where we shared information about the investigation into the identity of the person hiding behind the X social network account @CapitanBitcoin, which has accumulated more than half a million followers.
Information, as always, obtained from public sources. I emphasize this because Jesús Santorio Lorenzo (@SrLiberal) has been inventing for months that the person reported by Pugilato, who is a public official, obtains information in a criminal manner through a database of the Ministry of Interior. An invention that Pugilato has also spread via Twitter. An invention to which he will respond by taking legal action.
I would have loved to contribute something to the investigation into the identity of Captain Bitcoin, but in it I was nothing more than a spectator who shared with the network expert denounced by Pugilato information from public sources that a third party had provided me. The identity of Captain Bitcoin was uncovered last year by Román Cuesta, who also appears in the report of the Civil Guard.
And why my interest in Captain Bitcoin?, who, by the way, is named Álvaro Pau Sánchez Sendra. Well, because beyond being an ultra who has dedicated quite crude hoaxes to both FACUA and me, he has published falsehoods as serious as that judge Joaquim Bosch has accounts in a tax haven. With this, he is serving as a mouthpiece for an invention that Acodap has been moving for years, the association presided over by former judge Fernando Presencia, in provisional prison since 2023 for allegedly being the leader of a criminal organization dedicated to making money with false accusations and the publication of slanders.
Because let's remember that the slanders, the hoaxes, and the false accusations of which many of us are habitually victims are a business that generates significant benefits, both economic and electoral, for the far right.
