Journalist Alfonso Nasarre passed away this Tuesday at the age of 67. The professional had been at the helm of the Madrid public broadcaster Onda Madrid since 2021, after several decades of experience in the world of communication and media management.

Born in 1958 and trained in Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, Nasarre began his career at COPE, where he spent a good part of his early professional years. There he held various positions related to political and parliamentary information until he reached management responsibilities.

His career was also linked to institutional politics. During the governments of José María Aznar he worked in the Secretary of State for Communication, where he assumed different positions of responsibility within the information area of the Ministry of the Presidency.

He later returned to COPE, joining its management structure, before making the leap to RTVE  in 2012. In the public corporation, he initially held the position of Director of Communication and Institutional Relations and, a year later, assumed the general management of Radio Nacional de España, a position he held until 2018.

In 2021, he began his last major professional stage at the head of Onda Madrid, a responsibility he held until his death. Nasarre was also a member of the board of directors of the Federation of Associations of Radio and Television Professionals of Spain, maintaining his connection with the sector until his last years.

His death represents the loss of a professional with more than four decades of experience in radio, media management, and institutional information, especially linked to the field of political communication.
