Burger King has canceled its collaboration with Joaquín Domínguez, known as 'El Xokas', and has withdrawn his personalized menu from the Grand King campaign. The company confirmed the decision after several days of criticism against the content creator for his latest interventions on social media.

The controversy began during one of his live streams, when a user mocked his alopecia. The streamer responded with several insults also directed at his family and used his commercial agreement with Burger King to boast about his economic situation. "I have earned more in a Burger King promo than your parents in 20 years of working," he asserted.

El Xokas's words spread rapidly and caused a wave of messages directed at Burger King. Numerous users demanded that the chain clarify whether it would maintain its collaboration with the content creator, while others began to promote a boycott. A good part of the criticism pointed to the classist tone of his statements and the contempt for the working class.

Burger King cancels collaboration and apologizes

El Xokas's menu first disappeared from Burger King's website and app. Hours later, the company confirmed that it had decided to remove him from Grand King. "His statements do not in any way represent the values we uphold as a brand," the chain stated in a communiqué published on its official Instagram account.

Burger King also apologized to those who may have felt offended by the collaboration and announced that the promotion will continue with the other three participants. Marta Díaz, Marina Rivers, and Peldanyos will remain in the campaign, while the Cheese Bacon Classic menu associated with El Xokas has already been removed from the competition.

Grand King began last June 24 as a competition between four content creators. Each participant had customized a burger and had to mobilize their followers to make it the best-selling during the six weeks of the campaign. El Xokas's menu included a Cheese Bacon Classic, fries, a drink, ice cream, and several collectible keychains.

Before Burger King officially announced the breakup, users had already detected that the streamer's proposal had disappeared from the chain's digital channels. When trying to access the product directly, the website warned that it was no longer available, while the options from Marta Díaz, Marina Rivers, and Peldanyos remained on sale.

A new controversy after the Oyarzabal montage

The controversy grew hours later with another publication by El Xokas. The content creator shared a photomontage of Mikel Oyarzabal with Adolf Hitler's body in Paris to celebrate Spain's victory against France in the World Cup semifinals. The image was accompanied by a message in which he assured that Spain "will crush" its rival in the final.

These episodes add to other recent controversies involving the streamer. His comments about Ester Expósito were criticized for valuing the actress's physical attractiveness and questioning the possibility of maintaining a relationship with her due to her political ideas. He has also been involved in confrontations with PSOE voters and even passed an Argentina shirt over his genitals during a broadcast, a gesture for which he ended up publicly apologizing.

The Grand King campaign will continue with the three remaining creators for the planned period. El Xokas's menu has already been removed from Burger King's website and app, which has ended its relationship with the streamer within this promotion.
