The model, designer and influencer Jessica Goicoechea has announced that she has won the trial for gender violence against her ex-partner, the model River Viiperi, ending a judicial process that has lasted for six years. In a statement on her social media, Goicoechea celebrated that a judicial sentence has recognized the facts she reported and that this resolution means the closing of an especially hard stage in her life.
The Catalan woman described what happened as “the worst episode of my life” and explained that during a large part of the procedure she decided to keep public silence to protect her peace while trusting in the functioning of justice. Through her stories, she emphasized that the years of silence, judicial proceedings, and personal reconstruction have been complex, but she assured that “the truth has come to light”.
Goicoechea also wanted to use the resolution to make visible the reality of gender violence and encourage other women who might be in similar situations to report, although she acknowledged that taking that step “can be complicated” and that each victim needs her own time to do so. “Gender violence is not always seen from the outside,” she noted in her message.
With the sentence already handed down, the influencer affirmed that, although nothing can erase what was experienced, no one will be able to touch the truth, her dignity, or her peace, also thanking the support of her closest circle during this long process.
