The actor Manolo Solo has passed away this Thursday at 62 years old. The news was communicated by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain through its social networks, where it recalled the brilliant career of one of the most respected performers in the Spanish audiovisual scene.

Born in Algeciras in 1964, Manolo Solo developed a solid career in film, theater, and television. In 2016, he won the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Tarde para la ira, an acknowledgment that consolidated a career marked by significant supporting characters. Additionally, he was nominated for B, la películaEl buen patrónCerrar los ojos and Una quinta portuguesa.

Throughout his career, he also accumulated four awards from the Actors' Union, thanks to his performances in La isla mínimaB, la película and Tarde para la ira, in addition to being recognized for his stage work with the play Smoking Room.

His filmography exceeds fifty films and includes fundamental titles of Spanish cinema such as El laberinto del faunoCelda 211 or Biutiful. In parallel, he participated in numerous television series and developed a prominent role as a voice actor, lending his voice to well-known characters from Dragon Ball  such as Tao Pai Pai, Android 17 or Bills.

Reactions to his passing have been swift. Among them, director Santiago Segura wanted to bid farewell to the performer, defining him as "a great actor and a great guy," a message that joins the tribute from the film world to one of the most beloved and respected faces of Spanish acting.
