Shakira has not yet said her last word in Madrid. When everything pointed to October 11 being the closing of her historic residency in the capital, the artist has just announced a new date for the following day. On October 12, the singer will offer a special concert at the Shakira Stadium under the title Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran - Gran despedida con amigos (Women No Longer Cry - Grand farewell with friends), thus extending a stay that had already become one of the great musical events of the year in Madrid.

The announcement comes after Shakira fueled anticipation among her followers in recent hours with a mysterious clue on social media. Now it has been confirmed that that surprise was, precisely, a new performance. The big unknown is the guests: the concert's name itself suggests that the Colombian will be accompanied by other artists, although for the moment it has not been announced who will be the names sharing the stage with her. The new event will take place at 8:30 PM and general ticket sales will begin on October 7.

The new date also comes after one of the most talked-about nights of the entire residency. This past October 3, Shakira turned her Madrid concert into an international phenomenon thanks to the Amazon Music broadcast. The performance became the most-watched live stream by a female artist in the platform's history, with over 10 million connected users. A figure that was boosted by the surprise appearance of Dua Lipa, with whom Shakira performed an acoustic version of Antología.

That collaboration became one of the great moments of the residency. Dua Lipa and Shakira shared the stage live for the first time to sing one of the most remembered songs of the Colombian's career, while the concert could be followed through Amazon Music and other platforms. The night also served to confirm the strategy of a residency that has been incorporating guests and surprises as the dates progressed.

And now comes the grand finale. The residency was initially made up of 12 concerts, spread between September and October, with a venue prepared to receive around 50,000 people per night and an estimated more than 600,000 attendees for all the performances. The addition of October 12 further elevates the dimensions of an event that was already generating significant economic activity in Madrid: estimates placed the direct expenditure associated with the twelve initially planned concerts between 150 and 200 million euros, including tickets, accommodation, catering, transport, and leisure.

The new performance also changes the outcome of the residency. Shakira will no longer say goodbye to Madrid on October 11, but will have one last night to close this stage in style and, above all, surrounded by friends. After a residency marked by sold-out shows, millionaire figures, the international phenomenon of her live performance with Dua Lipa, and a historic record for Amazon Music, the Colombian is now preparing a farewell whose guest lineup is yet to be revealed.
