Víctor Gutiérrez has announced that he does not want to be part of the list of most influential LGTBI+ people compiled by El Mundo again. In a video published on his social media, and following the example of Paco Tomás, the former water polo player and socialist deputy has expressly asked the newspaper to stop including him in future editions.
According to him, his decision responds to the editorial line that, in his opinion, the newspaper has adopted. "You do not have my permission to include me again, and that will continue to be the case as long as El Mundo continues that ultra drift. Absolutely unacceptable," he states. Furthermore, he criticizes the newspaper for publishing a list to give visibility to the collective while, at the same time, giving space to articles that, in his opinion, "call us LGTBI people pedophiles."
Gutiérrez considers it "indecent" that "in the middle of 2026 a media outlet like El Mundo calls us pedophiles" and maintains that this contradiction prevents him from continuing to appear in that recognition.
The former athlete also refuses to share that list with Jaime de los Santos, whom he accuses of "exercising violence against LGTBI people," of not supporting the prohibition of conversion therapies, and of defending measures that, he denounces, would mean "re-pathologizing trans people." "So, bye," he concludes.
