Amaia Montero has decided to speak out publicly after rumors that pointed to a possible departure from the reunion tour of La Oreja de Van Gogh just a few days after their anticipated return to the stage. The singer has shared an extensive statement on social media in which she debunks all speculations and makes it clear that will continue to be part of the group's 30th-anniversary tour.
The artist explained that, after the massive concert in Bilbao before 30,000 people, she decided to disappear for a few days to rest physically and mentally, something that would have provoked interpretations about an alleged internal discomfort or even an imminent withdrawal. “I rested like a child after her best birthday”, Amaia recounted, detailing how she spent the following days between rest, series, and total disconnection from her phone.
According to her account, everything changed when she received a call from a close friend asking if she was going to abandon the tour. It was then that she discovered the extent of the rumors and reacted with laughter. “I responded with a resounding NO”, assured the singer, also defending the importance of prioritizing personal well-being in the face of the “noise and lies” that, according to her words, continue to circulate around the group.
Amaia Montero also wanted to reclaim the moment she is going through with La Oreja de Van Gogh, showing herself emotional about the public's reception in Bilbao and sending a very direct message to her followers: “I said it on stage. We are back, we are truly back”. The vocalist closed the statement confirming that she will continue with the tour and also announcing a new getaway to continue resting before the upcoming concerts in Madrid, accompanying her words with the mythical The Show Must Go On by Queen.
