"Los domingos" and "Sirât" Lead Goya 2026 Nominations

The favorite films for the 40th Goya Awards tally 13 and 11 nominations respectively, at the ceremony to be held on February 28 in Barcelona

The Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 40th edition of the Goya Awards, during the gala hosted by Arturo Valls and Toni Acosta held yesterday in Madrid. The awards will be presented during the ceremony that will take place on February 28, 2026, in Barcelona.

“On the Go”, by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, tops the list with 13 nominations, followed by “Sirât”, by Oliver Laxe, with 11 nominations.

Other notable titles include Maspalomas (9), La cena (8), Sorda, El cautivo, and Los Tigres (7 each), and Romería (6). The main films are nominated in categories such as Best Film, Direction, and Acting, with names like Mario Casas and Patricia López Arnaiz among the contenders for the awards.

The ceremony, which will celebrate the highlights of Spanish cinema in 2025, will be hosted by Luis Tosar and Rigoberta Bandini and will be broadcast by RTVE.
