Queen Letizia will inaugurate this Friday the 85th edition of the Madrid Book Fair in the Retiro Park, kicking off one of the year's major cultural events in the capital. The official opening will take place at 11:00 hours, as usual, in a context marked by an intense agenda of events in Madrid during the coming weeks.
This year's edition will be especially conditioned by the coincidence with the visit of Pope Leo XIV to the city, scheduled from June 6 to 9, as well as by the celebration of a series of mega-concerts by Bad Bunny in the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, which could affect the influx of visitors on some of the event's key days.
On this occasion, the fair will focus on humor and satire as the common thread of its programming, with the participation of international and national authors who will explore this genre from literature, illustration, and music. The organization highlights the presence of hundreds of publishers and activities that will turn the Retiro into a great cultural meeting point until June 14, in an edition that seeks to reclaim the humorous tradition of Spanish and universal literature.
