Shakira and Laura Pausini unite their voices to sing 'Antología' together for the first time in Madrid

The third night of Shakira in Madrid had a very special surprise in store. Laura Pausini appeared on the stage of Macondo Park to accompany the Colombian in one of the most emotional moments of her residency. Together they performed for the first time Antología, one of the most emblematic songs of Shakira's career.

Pausini's presence was one of the big rumors surrounding the Colombian artist's concerts in Madrid and it finally came true. Shakira welcomed the Italian with a warm hug and words that made clear the bond of admiration that exists between them.

The Colombian highlighted that she feels especially connected with Pausini, both for their respective careers and for some personal experiences they have lived through in similar stages. She also wanted to thank her for choosing one of her songs for her new album, Yo Canto 2, an album in which the Italian singer revives great classics of Spanish music.

Pausini, visibly emotional, also did not spare praise for Shakira. She recalled that she has admired her since the beginning of her career and highlighted her talent, her artistic personality, and the perseverance she has shown throughout the years. "I come as a fan, I always have been," she acknowledged to the audience.

Then came one of the most anticipated moments of the night. The two artists stood in front of the audience and began to perform Antología, a song originally included in Pies Descalzos, the album Shakira released in 1995. The performance was full of emotion and ended with both visibly moved. Shakira herself explained that they had only rehearsed the song together once.

For Laura Pausini, moreover, singing Antología with Shakira had a special meaning. The Italian had already said that she chose this song for Yo Canto 2 because of the memories it evokes from 1995, when she began promoting her first album in Latin America. During that period, the music of a young Shakira was very present on the radio and television stations she visited.

Pausini has explained that she has a personal relationship with the song and that she feels identified with part of what it conveys. That's why she decided to include it in her new project, although among the Shakira songs she could have chosen, Antología ended up being the most special for her.

The encounter between both artists turned Shakira's third night in Madrid into an even more special evening. Two reference voices of Spanish music shared the stage to revive a song that is part of Shakira's history and that now also occupies a prominent place in Laura Pausini's career.
