The Official Section of the Malaga Festival puts 12 Spanish and 10 Ibero-American films in competition

The cinematic event in Malaga, which will take place from March 6 to 15, continues to bet on Spanish cinema with its diverse selection representative not only of Spain but also of Latin America

The **Málaga Spanish Film Festival**, which celebrates its 29th edition this year, confirmed at the press conference held this morning at 11:30 AM that **12 Spanish and 10 Ibero-American films will compete in the official section**, while the official out-of-competition section includes another **21 films**, among them **19 Spanish and 2 Ibero-American**

The director of the Málaga Festival, Juan Antonio Vigar, highlighted that the programming for this edition offers "a real image of the Ibero-American audiovisual sector" and is presented as a selection that is "diverse, broad, balanced, and attractive to the public," with Spanish and Ibero-American titles that reflect the varied offering and richness that Spanish cinema provides

Within its section of tributes, the event aims to recognize several key figures in cinema, some of them already announced on ElConstitucional.es. Among them,  Rossy de Palma will be awarded the Málaga Prize; production director Manuela Ocón Aburto will receive the Ricardo Franco Prize; Alauda Ruiz de Azúa will be honored with the Málaga Talent Prize; and Peruvian director Francisco Lombardi will receive the Retrospective Prize. Furthermore, the Biznaga Ciudad del Paraíso will be presented to Victoria Vera; while Natalia Oreiro, the late Argentine director Fabián Bielinsky, actor Saturnino García and directors Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat will be recognized with Biznagas de Honor

The Golden Film Award will be taken by El desencanto, by Jaime Chávarri, due to the fiftieth anniversary of its premiere, in a tribute in which, together with the San Sebastián Festival, the feature film will be screened within the Klasikoak section, emphasizing the union for Spanish cinema not only from Malaga but also from the Basque city.

  • To them are added the already announced Calle Málaga, by Maryam Touzani; High Abilities, by Víctor García León; and After Kim, by Ángeles González-Sinde.

  • The Guardian, by Nuria Ibáñez (Mexico-Spain)

  • Juana, by Daniel Giménez Cacho (Mexico)
  • The Condor's Daughter, by Álvaro Olmos Torrico (Bolivia-Peru-Uruguay)
  • A Thousand Pieces, by Sergio Castro-San Martín (Chile-Argentina-Spain)
  • Anonymous Neurotic, by Jorge Perugorría Rodríguez (Cuba)
  • Also completing the list are the already announced The Wolf's Heart, by Francisco J. Lombardi (Peru); and The Woman in the Row, by Benjamín Ávila (Argentina-Spain).
Official section out of competition

    Within the section, up to 19 Spanish premieres will be produced, such as 9 lunas, by Patricia Ortega; A una isla de ti, by Alexis Morante; Andy, by Román Parrado; Auri, by Violeta Salama; Cada día nace un listo, by Arantxa Echevarria; Casi todo bien, by Andrés Salmoyraghi and Rafael López Saubidet; Día de caza, by Pedro Aguilera; Dos días, by Gonzaga Manso; Femení Singular, by Xavi Puebla; and Hora y veinte, by Marc Romero, among others.

    For their part, two Ibero-American productions are included that will be screened out of competition: Bye bye paraíso, by Kim Elizondo Navarro (Costa Rica-Colombia-Uruguay), and La casaca de Dios, by Fernan Miras (Argentina-USA).


    Jury and gala presenters

    The jury of the Official Section of the Festival this year is made up of a cast of recognized professionals: Jaione Camborda, Daniela Michel, Santiago Roncagliolo, Belén Funes, Gastón Pauls, Rosa Montero and Loreto Mauleón, who will have the responsibility of evaluating the productions in competition.

    For her part, Kira Miró will be the presenter of the opening gala, and Elena Sánchez and Belén Cuesta will be the ones leading the closing event. Luz Casal will star in the festival's closing, offering two consecutive concerts at the Teatro Cervantes, which will put the finishing touch on the 29th edition
