Madrid prepares to become Shakira territory in the coming weeks. The Colombian singer begins this Friday, September 18, her European residency of Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, with twelve concerts scheduled until October 11 at Iberdrola Music, in Villaverde. More than 50,000 people will be able to attend each of the events, many of them arriving from other Spanish cities and from different parts of abroad.
The dimension of the phenomenon is already being reflected outside the venue. Hotels, trains, and flights have registered an increase in demand coinciding with the concert dates, while those still thinking of traveling this first weekend will find a very different price scenario depending on the type of trip and accommodation chosen.
Tickets from 73.50 euros
The first outlay to attend one of the concerts is the ticket. Grandstand seats start from 73.50 euros, while general admission is 119 euros and Front Stage tickets, the closest to the stage within general sale, reach 181.50 euros.
In addition to these options, there are Platinum tickets, whose price is dynamic and starts from around 464.50 euros, potentially reaching around 725 euros. The communicated prices include management fees and corresponding taxes.
Tickets are sold through the official channels of Live Nation, Ticketmaster Spain, and El Corte Inglés. In parallel, there is also a resale market, so the final price may vary depending on the location and demand.
Sleeping in Madrid during the concert: the hotel is the other big expense
For those arriving from outside the capital, accommodation can become one of the most significant parts of the trip. SiteMinder data indicates that hotel bookings for the residency period have increased by 14.8% compared to the same period in 2025, while the average daily rate has risen by 19.7%, from 283 to 339 euros.
Interest has particularly soared among Spanish travelers. The proportion of domestic bookings grows by 65% year-on-year, while Booking.com registers a 56% increase in accommodation searches for the concert dates. The increase reaches 57.3% for this first weekend and peaks at 74.9% between October 9 and 12, coinciding with the last concerts of the residency.
In a search conducted for the night of Friday, September 18, hotel prices in downtown Madrid start at around 181 euros per night for one person, although a good part of the offer ranges between 200 and 350 euros. On subsequent concert dates, prices may be even higher.
The impact is not limited to the capital's center. The arrival of tens of thousands of people in Villaverde each day has also required the preparation of a special transport and traffic plan, with reinforcements for Metro, Cercanías, and shuttle buses.
The train becomes one of the alternatives to reach Madrid
The phenomenon is also noticeable in railway connections. Train bookings to Madrid for the first concert weekend increase by 38%, according to Trainline data, with a particularly notable increase on the Barcelona-Madrid route, where demand grows by 110%.
For those traveling from Barcelona, Ouigo also maintains an offer of tickets from 19 euros on this route as part of its promotions linked to the residency. The company has also put seats on sale from 9 euros for other destinations in its network.
The duration of the stay helps explain part of this movement. According to SiteMinder, the average lead time for hotel bookings has increased from 106 to 122 days, but the average duration of stays drops from 2.1 to 1.7 nights. The pattern points to trips increasingly linked to the concert date itself.
More than 225,000 air seats for fans arriving from outside
The plane completes the map of displacements to Madrid. Ryanair has scheduled more than 225,000 seats on 54 international routes coinciding with the residency period, while travel agency data show strong increases in certain connections.
The largest upturns are concentrated on some routes from the islands. Trips from Menorca, Fuerteventura, Tenerife North, and Mallorca register increases of over 200%, while demand from other European countries also grows.
Amadeus data also shows a 35% growth in domestic travel to Madrid during the first nine dates of the residency. Barcelona stands out with a 128% increase. In the international market, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, and Mexico appear among the main long-haul markets.
Madrid prepares for four weekends of Shakira
The first concert will be this Friday, September 18, and will kick off a residency that will last for four weekends: September 18, 19, and 20; September 25, 26, and 27; October 2, 3, and 4; and October 9, 10, and 11. Iberdrola Music has designed a temporary stadium for the occasion with a capacity for more than 50,000 people per night.
The proposal, moreover, goes beyond the show itself. The venue incorporates Macondo Park, a space inspired by the Latin American universe that adds gastronomy, art, literature, fashion, and other activities during the concert days.
Thus, the cost of seeing Shakira in Madrid is not limited to the price of a ticket: for those traveling from outside, the concert implies adding accommodation and travel to a bill that can vary considerably depending on the city of origin, the chosen date, and the type of seat. With the first weekend already at the doorstep, Madrid faces four weekends in which the so-called "Shakira effect" will be felt both on and off stage.
