The collaborator Afra Blanco starred in an intense debate on laSexta Xplica against the representative of Nuevas Generaciones del PP, Jon Echeverría, when addressing the pension model and the role of older generations in supporting families during economic crises.
During her speech, Blanco questioned her interlocutor's stance and criticized what she considered a contradictory vision of the welfare system. In that sense, she reproached that some discourses question pensions while, at the same time, benefiting from other already consolidated labor rights.
The unionist defended the solidity of the public pension system based on reports from independent organizations, and stressed that, in her opinion, the debate is not only economic, but also social and structural. In that context, she affirmed that it is a discussion that goes beyond figures and directly affects the model of society.
One of the most notable moments came when Blanco raised the tone of the debate and described certain positions as “an ignorant and ungrateful moral debate”, in reference to proposals to cut or question the pension system, also highlighting the role of retirees as fundamental support for many families.
The unionist's intervention was received with attention on the set and generated a notable reaction among those present, in a debate that evidenced the strong clash of positions regarding the future of the public pension system and generational replacement.
