Aimar Bretos will be the new director of Hoy por hoy, the emblematic morning program of Cadena SER, starting next season. The journalist will relieve Àngels Barceló, who leaves the space after more than two decades linked to the program and the station, in a move that marks the beginning of a new stage in one of Spain's most influential radio formats.
Bretos's designation comes after the announcement of Barceló's departure, whose end at the helm of the magazine is framed within a decision not to renew the contract by the Prisa group, according to sources close to the company. The change means the closing of a seven-year stage for the Catalan journalist as director of the program and opens the door to a new editorial line in the morning slot of the radio.
In his presentation, Bretos has expressed his enthusiasm for taking on the challenge and has claimed the program's legacy, recalling key figures in its history such as Iñaki Gabilondo, Carles Francino, Pepa Bueno, and Barceló herself. “It's going to be a joy to have breakfast every day with you on Hoy por hoy”, the communicator has pointed out, who faces this challenge with the intention of maintaining the prestige and closeness of a space that accompanies millions of listeners in Spain every morning.
